Rory McIlroy has surged into contention at the Masters. He finished at -4 and is one back of the leader.
Tiger Woods is looking to join him. After birdieing two of his first three holes, he bogeyed three of his next seven. He's at +1.
McIlroy a stroke back of Jason Dufner and 52-year-old Fred Couples.
Other notable scores from Augusta:
Phil Mickelson was quietly -4 today. He's -2 overall.
Bubba Watson has shot -1 after an opening round 69 to move into one stroke of the lead.
Louis Oosthuzien shot even par for the day, one back of the leaders.
Lee Westwood was in first all day, but double-bogeyed the 18th to go to -4.
