According to The Giving Back Fund, no athlete in the United States gave a bigger charitable donation in 2010 than Ndamukong Suh of the Detroit Lions (via ProFootballTalk.com).
The Giving Back Fund is an organization that manages and consults celebrities and athletes on charitable contributions.
Every year they release the "Giving Back 30," a list of the 30 celebrities that made the largest donations in the previous year, according to public records.
Suh, who is considered by some to be the dirtiest player in the NFL, was the highest-ranked athlete, having donated $2.6 million to the University of Nebraska's athletic department. He is ranked sixth overall.
Other athletes on the list include Lance Berkman (7th, $2.4 million to The Lord's Fund), Eli Manning (18th, $1.0 million to the University of Mississippi), Carmelo Anthony (22nd, $837 thousand to the Carmelo Anthony Foundation), Lance Armstrong (23rd, $700 thousand to the Livestrong Foundation), Mariano Rivera (25th, $628 thousand to the Mariano Rivera Foundation), and Davis Love III (29th, $424 thousand to the Davis Love III foundation).
Also, Tom Brady's wife, Gisele Bundchen (14th, $1.5 million to the Red Cross for Haiti relief) is also on the list.
