Krys Barch

Krys Barch, a forward for the Florida Panthers, was ejected on Saturday night after an official reportedly heard Barch direct a racial slur at an opponent.

The incident occurred after a fight, at the end of the first period in the Panthers' game against the Montreal Canadiens. According to sources for the Miami Herald, as Barch was skating off the ice, an official ejected Barch for using "racially charged language" directed at the Canadiens' P.K. Subban, whose parents immigrated to Canada from Jamaica.

It is still unclear what exactly was said. And Subban told the Herald that he did not hear anything, but was told by teammates that "something was said."

Barch's agent acknowledges that the player did say something, but says that there was "no ill intent" and called the situation a "misunderstanding."

The NHL is investigating the matter, but they have yet to speak with Barch about what occurred.
