One of the major concerns in anticipation of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil is security.
In order to curb gun violence and help out with the country's disarmament campaign, FIFA is considering a plan to offer reduced-price or even free tickets to fans who hand in their guns to the Brazilian government.
One idea calls for the surrendered weapons to be used to make goalposts that could be used during the World Cup as well as other international competitions. It is all part of a proposed World Cup theme of "For a world without guns."
FIFA's secretary general Jérôme Valcke has his doubts about the plan, though.
"I think that unfortunately there are so many guns in Brazil that we wouldn't have a sufficient number of tickets," he told reporters in the capital Brasilia.
