Nike releases a new Tiger Woods golf shoe every year, but it's most recent release, the Nike TW '13, has broken new ground.
In developing the new shoes Tiger asked Nike if it could come up with something more like the athletic training shoes he uses off the golf course, the Nike FREE Run line.
Nike obliged and came up with a huge advancement in golf shoes: a pair that allows for an incredible full range of motion in your foot while still providing the same great support and protection the old versions always have.
The new Nike TW '13 will be released to the public June 8 and retail at $220.
As Jeff Pisciotta of the Nike Sports Research Lab says regarding Nike FREE technology, "I think it works because it allows the foot to be the foot."
Until now, Nike FREE technology has been mostly for running/training shoes. The cross over to golf, however, means Nike will likely start rolling out similar products for other sports in the near future.
This is what a regular Nike FREE training shoe looks like, the kind Tiger loves to work out in
To make the new Nike TW '13 shoes, they essentially took the shoe apart and only left the outsole and insole
Why? Nike FREE technology allows for a full range of motion regular athletic shoes simply can't provide
