It's obvious by now that the University of Maryland's football program is undergoing a crazy transformation.
Well, it's actual football product is still sub par (2-10 record in 2011), but it's aesthetics are very bold.
First there was the introduction of these hideously jarring new uniforms last year:
And now the school is thinking of turning the natural grass at Byrd Stadium into black or pewter artificial turf, according to WUSA 9 (via SB Nation).
Yes, BLACK or PEWTER.
Athletic Director Kevin Anderson has been reinventing the program since getting the job a season ago, and it seems altering the the school colors could potentially be next after axing the former coaching regime and eliminating the old uniforms.
