A 42-Year-Old Golf Instructor Qualified For The U.S. Open With This 25-Foot Putt

Dennis Miller, a 42-year-old journeyman who teaches at a golf club in Ohio, will play in the U.S. Open after qualifying in dramatic fashion yesterday.

Miller was in a four-man playoff for three spots at a sectional qualifier when he had a chance to secure a U.S. Open spot with a 25-foot putt from the fringe.

The putt seemed to stop right on the edge of the cup. But the second Miller looked away in disgust, it fell into the hole.

This is basically the plot of Tin Cup. He works at the Mill Creek Golf Course in Ohio, and has tried to qualify for the Open 12 times. Here's the putt (via Yahoo!, apologies for the quality):
