The Heat were 4 for 20 on shots outside of nine feet in the second half last night.
If you want a simple explanation for how they got blown out by 18 points after halftime, go back to the old truism, "You live by the jumpshot, you die by the jumpshot."
Miami scored 54 points in the first half while shooting 11/25 on shots from that distance. When the jump shots stopped falling, the wheels came off for Miami.
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook outscored the Heat by themselves in the second half, 41-40.
Even worse, the Thunder exploded in the second half despite shooting an equally bad 6 for 21 from 9+ feet.
It all leads to on simple conclusion: the Heat will only go as far as their jump shooting takes them, while the Thunder are dynamic enough to get points even if the shots aren't falling.
