St. Louis Cardinals, World Series

Ever since the infamous tie game in the 2002 MLB All-Star Game, the winning league has been granted home-field advantage for that year's World Series.

Given the relative amount of parity in baseball compared to other sports, one would think that home-field advantage isn't that big of a deal — but recent statistics suggest otherwise.

The team with home-field advantage has won a staggering 21 of the last 26 World Series titles, and the last nine game 7s.

Last season, the St. Louis Cardinals took game 7 at home 6-2 over the Texas Rangers to win the Series.

Since the rule change that granted the winner home-field advantage, the American League has won seven  All-Star Games, but the National League has won the last two.
