There is still buzz at the Olympics surrounding the world record setting performance by 16-year old Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen, which led to one swimming coach making comparisons to past doping cases.
Below is a look at how past gold medal winning times in this event compare to Ye's time of 4:28.43.
What stands out is that she beat the 2008 gold medal winning time by more than a second, despite the swimmers that year using swimsuits that are now illegal. So a better comparison is how she beat the 2000 and 2004 winning times by more than five seconds.
This doesn't mean she has done anything illegal. But that type of performance is going to draw some attention, and not all of it will be good...
