In one scene of a documentary for BBC called "Usain Bolt: The Fastest Man Alive," Bolt is seen playing a pick-up soccer game and openly pleading with Alex Ferguson, manager of Manchester United, for a tryout.
The clip is humorous as Bolt asks the filmmaker to not show this clip until after the Olympics, noting that his coach "will be pissed" when he sees the documentary.
But is Bolt seriously considering a career change? He wouldn't be the first sprinter to take up a new sport after an Olympics. Two-time Olympic gold medalist Bob Hayes went on to a Hall of Fame career as a Wide Receiver with the Cowboys. And James Jett, who won gold in 1992, played in the NFL for ten seasons.
However, the transition from sprinter to wide receiver is probably a bit easier than to soccer, which is more of an endurance sport. But at the same time, Bolt is clearly one of the greatest athletes in the world. If you owned a mid-level club, wouldn't you at least give him a tryout?
