The youngest Olympian on the American team, 15-year-old swimmer Katie Ledecky, won the 800m freestyle today in dominating fashion.
With 150 meters to go, Ledecky was comfortably ahead of the world record line (she's in lane 3):
At the turn for the final 100, no one was within 10 meters of her, and she was ahead of world record pace:
She really started to fall below the world record with 80 meters left:
But she was still dominating the race, look how far out in front she is:
By the 25-meter mark, she was behind the world record, and never recovered:
She seemed to be in shock when she won:
