Bulgarian hurdler Vania Stambolova was favored to advance to the semifinals in the women's 400-meter hurdles before a terrible mishap on the first hurdle Sunday.
Stambolova hit the hurdle and couldn't recover, finishing in last due to a "Did Not Finish."
It lead to a few unfortunate English language headlines.

Things looked okay early on:
It appeared as if she was going to clear the first hurdle
But Stambolova's knee hit the very top of the hurdle...
...she lost her balance...
...and crashed
With the field well ahead of her, she had no shot of getting near the pack at this point
