Roger Clemens will make his second start for the Sugar Land Skeeters next Friday. And according to Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com, there is "strong speculation in baseball" that Clemens will then pitch for the Houston Astros five days later.
The strong speculation in baseball has been that if all goes reasonably well that night, Clemens will then pitch for the Astros five days later, on Sept. 12 against the Cubs.
Of course, at this point it was assumed by most that Clemens would pitch for the Astros at some point. But how many appearances will he make?
If he pitched on normal four days rest, his second start would come on the road in St. Louis. A more likely scenario would have him wait three more days and pitch again when the Astros return home against the Pirates on Sept. 21. That would allow Clemens to then make a third and possibly final start in the Astros final home game of the season on Sept. 26 against the Cardinals.
