This is one of the worst gambling losses we've seen all year.
A tipster sent us this story of a VIX trader who bet $50 on an eight-team NFL parlay to win $18,441. He won the first seven games of the bet, and only needed the Cowboys to beat the Eagles by at least 10 points on Sunday night to hit the jackpot.
But with the Cowboys up 38-27 with 31 seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Eagles returned a punt 98 yards for a garbage-time touchdown that meant very little for either team, but a whole lot for this gambler.
The game ended 38-33 Cowboys, and the potential $18,500 win went up in smoke.
He got fairly lucky on a couple of the earlier bets — the Rams won in overtime after the 49ers missed a game-winning field goal, and the Colts won on a last-second TD pass by Andrew Luck.
