Tim Tebow wasn't in uniform yesterday after suffering a rib injury three weeks ago against Seattle.
It was the first game he missed because of the injury, and he said today that he probably could have played. Here's what he told Seth Walder of the NY Daily News:
"Could I have pushed, went out there and played? I think I could have managed it. I feel like I’m healing up."
Tebow missed his chance to play significant time under center as a result. Mark Sanchez was benched in the second half for the first time all year, and third-stringer Greg McElroy led the team to a 7-6 win.
There seems to be a disconnect over whether or not Tebow was healthy enough to give it a go.
Rex Ryan said he wasn't close to 100% today.
The Jets now have a three-way QB controversy heading into the Jaguars game on Sunday. Ryan wouldn't say who would start, but there are plenty to questions surrounding the decision: Does McElroy deserve a start after winning the game for them yesterday? Are they ready to give up on Sanchez? Is it fair to Tebow to lose his back-up QB job due to injury?
It's complicated, and no one really knows which direction they'll go in.
