Formula E, the new racing series using electric cars announced by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) in August, is well on its way to becoming a reality.
It has already lined up an agreement to host a race in Rio de Janeiro, and now it has secured a spot in Europe as well. Come 2014, the electric cars will be ripping through Rome.
It will certainly make for an interesting sight, as the technologically advanced cars drive through the ancient streets.
FIA President Jean Todt said: "The contrast between this innovative motorsport series and the rich ancient history of Rome is one I am sure the public and the media will be intrigued and enriched by."
But with all the historic landmarks around, drivers had better be careful not to do any damage, especially after seeing what Ferrari accidentally did to a 600-year-old wall in China.
