At one point it looked like the Los Angeles Lakers were about to reaffirm their dominance in the NBA with the addition of Chris Paul to an already stacked lineup that includes Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. A week later, and the Lakers may not even be the dominant force in Los Angeles.
On the court, the Clippers new tandem can already hold their own. In the past three seasons, Kobe and Gasol have averaged 24.0 Win Shares* per season. If we take Paul's 3-year average and Griffin's 2010-11 season, those two have been worth a combined 23.0 Wins Shares per season.
And unlike the Lakers duo, in which both players are in their 30s, The Clippers pair are both still young (Griffin is 22, Paul is 26).
* Win Shares is a measure of how many wins a player's all-around game contributed to his team.
