SCP Auctions has announced that they will be auctioning off Babe Ruth's earliest known jersey (via SCPAuctions.com). And according to some experts, it is believed that that Yankees jersey will break the current record for the highest price ever paid for a piece of baseball memorabilia.
According to Steve Henson of Yahoo! Sports , the road jersey is believed to be from 1920, Ruth's first season with the Yankees. The jersey also matches the photo seen at right (taken in 1920). In those years, players were often only issued one or two of each jersey type to last the entire season.
The current record for highest price paid for a piece of baseball memorabilia is $2.8 million, paid for a Honus Wagner baseball card.
