Dwight Howard wants Stan Van Gundy fired

The only reason Dwight Howard signed on for another year with the Orlando Magic right before the trade deadline is because the team threatened to trade him to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to the New York Post.

According to the report, the Orlando Magic were so tired of Howard's indecisiveness they gave him an ultimatum: waive your opt-out clause or we'll send you where you don't want to go.

Howard eventually signed the papers, but only after he was told "he would be a Laker by the end of the day," according to one source.

This comes less than 24 hours after Magic coach Stan Van Gundy revealed that upper management told him Howard had asked for his firing during an unbelievably awkward press session.

Prior to signing the opt-in clause in his contract to stay through next season, Howard made it obvious he wanted to go to either the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets or Dallas Mavericks.

Although the thought of Dwight Howard teaming up with Kobe Bryant may sound like a great match, Lakers drama and all, Howard has said before he doesn't want to go to Los Angeles.

Today's revelation makes it painfully obvious the Magic will go through the same nonsense next spring and gives the lowly Brooklyn Nets hope that they'll land the star. Whether that "hope" is enough to keep Deron Williams around is an entirely different story, however.
