Rory McIlroy lost his No. 1 world ranking this past weekend to Luke Donald, who won the BMW PGA Championship. McIlroy can win it back this week at the Memorial if he handles a star-studded field, but things didn't start out so well today.
On his third hole of the day, the par-3 12th, McIlroy carded a quadruple-bogey seven, hitting the ball into the water and two separate bunkers in the process.
In true unpredictable McIlroy fashion, though, he followed up this horror-show with four birdies and an eagle to finish the round tied with Tiger Woods at one-under.
