One of the owners that opposed the potential Chris Paul trade was Dan Gilbert. The Cleveland Cavaliers owner sent a sternly written email to David Stern in which he accuses the league of catering to the big-market teams (via Yahoo! Sports).
The email starts off calling the potential deal a "travesty." He goes on to explain why he thinks the deal is unfair, noting that he cannot remember any trade in which "a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process."
But the big bombshell comes at the end of the letter, in which Gilbert essentially accuses the league of making 25 teams patsies for the big-market teams...
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
If you are not familiar, the Washington Generals are the team that always faces the Harlem Globetrotters. The Generals sole purpose for existing is so the Globetrotters have a team to beat while they are entertaining the crowd.
No league gets accused of orchestrating the action more than the NBA. And now it sounds like the small-market owners have had enough.
