Portland Trail Blazers player Brandon Roy will retire because of a degenerative knee injury, ESPN reports.
Roy is only 27, and he was one of the NBA's best guards before his knees began to fall apart two seasons ago.
He missed most of 2010-11, but briefly returned during the playoffs.
Overall, it's a really sad turn of events for one of the league's best and most-likable players.
