Billionaire ex-banker Joe Moglia was formally announced as head football coach of Coastal Carolina today.
Moglia hasn't exactly taken the most traditional route to a head coaching job.
He was an assistant coach at Dartmouth in 1983 when he decided to go work on Wall Street.
He worked at Merrill Lynch for 17 years, and then became the CEO of TD Ameritrade in 2001. He grew the company's assets from $24 billion in 2001 to $280 billion when he stepped down in 2007.
Although he still remains chairman of the company, he returned to coaching in 2008 as an unpaid assistant with the University of Nebraska.
He took a head coaching job with the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL last year, and now he's the head coach at Coastal Carolina.
He doesn't have a ton of experience for an FCS head coach, but we'll see if he's able to make CCU into a non-BCS power.
