Two weeks ago, the Indianapolis Colts appeared to be on the way to an 0-16 season, and a sure bet to select Andrew Luck in next April's draft. But after last night's last-minute win over the Houston Texans, the Colts are no longer a lock for the top pick.
The Colts are now tied with the Minnesota Vikings and the St. Louis Rams with two wins each. The first tie-breaker in the NFL draft is strength-of-schedule, with the team with the easier schedule picking first.
As it stands now, the Colts would win the tie-breaker. However, there is a chance, depending on how the final two weeks play out, that the Vikings could finish with a weaker schedule. That would give the Vikings the tie-breakers and Luck. The Colts also have a winnable game in week 17 against 4-10 Jacksonville.
The Colts are still the favorites to land Luck. But thanks to a late-season surge, Luck might be slipping from their grasp.
